New Release Center Stage is Center Stage Today
Today's guest is the best selling author and driving force behind 5 Prince Publishing, Bernadette Marie. Bernadette's latest novel, Center Stage, Book Four in the Keller Family Series, was released today. Welcome Bernadette Marie!
To start off today, let's take a peek into Bernadette's impressive credentials.
Bernadette spends most of her free time driving her kids to their many events. She is also an accomplished martial artist who will earn her conditional second degree black belt in Tang Soo Do in October 2012. An avid reader, she enjoys most, the works of Nora Roberts, Karen White, Megan Hart, to name a few. She loves to meet readers who enjoy reading contemporary romances and she always promises Happily Ever After.
Here is a brief look at what awaits readers in today's new release - Center Stage.
Now, let's have a look at an interesting excerpt from Center Stage.
To start off today, let's take a peek into Bernadette's impressive credentials.
Bernadette Marie has been an avid writer since the early age
of 13, when she’d fill notebook after notebook with stories that she’d share
with her friends. Her journey into novel writing started the summer
before eighth grade when her father gave her an old typewriter. At all
times of the day and night you would find her on the back porch penning her
first work, which she would continue to write for the next 22 years.
In 2007 – after marriage, filling her chronic
entrepreneurial needs, and having five children – Bernadette began to write
seriously with the goal of being published. That year she wrote 12
books. In 2009 she was contracted for her first trilogy and the
published author was born. In 2011 she (being the entrepreneur that she
is) opened her own publishing house, 5 Prince Publishing, and has released
contemporary titles and began the process of taking on other authors in other
genres.
In 2012 Bernadette Marie found herself on the bestsellers
lists of iTunes and Amazon to name a few. Her office wall is lined with
colorful PostIt notes with the titles of books she will be releasing in the
very near future, with hope that they too will grace the bestsellers lists.
John Forrester is a simple man whose never needed more than
his work, his truck, and a small apartment with his flat screen TV. After a bad
breakup with his ex-wife John swore he’d never get married again and has done
his best to keep to himself. But one woman always creeps into his mind—Arianna
Keller.
Arianna Keller had an amazing career, center stage on
Broadway. However, her run in New York is over and circumstances have forced
her back home to Nashville, Tennessee.
The relationship John and Arianna have forged over the years
as friends has always had a romantic spark, which has been ignored. Now they
are working together to restore an old theater and their desire for each other
can no longer be denied.
It’s only a matter of time before sparks ignite into a
passionate fire. But Arianna is keeping a secret which threatens to destroy
more than her relationship with John—it threatens the lives of the entire Keller
family.

Arianna pushed down
on the suitcase and forced the zipper to close. The rest of her apartment was
packed and ready for movers, but she’d need all her clothes before her
belongings arrived in Tennessee.
She looked around
her small, New York apartment. It had been a good home to her for the past
decade. She’d accomplished everything she’d wanted. When she’d moved there, it
was to try her hand on the stages of Manhattan. She’d played in some dives and had
worked her way up to leads on Broadway. She had a few commercials to her credit
and had graced a few TV shows as an extra, but her love was still on stage. But
now it was time to go home, back where her family was. Something would come
together for her there. It always did.
Arianna looked at
her watch. She had barely enough time to get to the airport. If there were any
accidents backing up traffic, she’d miss her flight.
Her brother-in-law,
Zach, had called and said her sister Regan had gone into labor with the
couple’s second baby. She figured she’d arrive just in time to get to hold the
bundle of joy. Then in a few more weeks, her brother, Curtis, and his fiancée,
Simone, would have their first child. She knew moving back to Tennessee was
right, and getting to spoil new nieces and nephews was reason enough to be
closer to home.
The flight had been
miserable. Leaving New York in a January snowstorm always meant delays and
aggravation. It was almost eight o’clock at night by the time the flight landed
two hours late. Carlos would be livid if he’d been waiting at the airport the
entire time.
She made it to
baggage claim, retrieved her two pieces of luggage, and then scanned the area
for her brother. There was no sign of him, or any member of her family,
anywhere.
“I thought I’d
missed you,” the familiar voice behind her said.
She spun quickly to
find John Forrester, Zach’s most trusted building foreman, standing there.
“Missed me? Were you
looking for me?”
“I have been sent to
pick you up. Carlos and Madeline ended up with Tyler for the night.”
Arianna narrowed her
stare on him when he’d commented about her nephew. “I thought Mom was watching
him while the baby was born.”
“Well, it seems as
though your family is going to grow quite a bit tonight. Regan is still in
labor, and Curtis just took Simone in. She’s having her baby today, too.”
Arianna gasped.
“Simone isn’t due for two more weeks.”
“Babies come when
babies want to, and Emily thought she’d better be there for Simone.” He picked
up her suitcases, one in each hand. “C’mon, my truck isn’t too far.”
Who would have
thought she’d get to be there for the birth of both babies in one night. God
had blessed the Keller family—that was for sure. Carlos and Madeline’s kids
were teenagers, and in the next few years, they would be off on adventures of
their own. Eduardo, their eldest, was already working for Zach after school.
Christian, their second son, was an all-star athlete—baseball, she thought. And
Clara, well, Clara was a girl after her own heart. She was an accomplished
musician on the acoustic guitar. And, boy, could that girl sing.
Regan and Zach’s
son, Tyler, was as anxious as any sixteen-month-old child could be for a new
sibling. But Arianna figured he’d need the most spoiling from her to make
everything just right.
As for her, she’d
never wanted children. It just hadn’t been in her plans. Her career had always
been more important. She came and went as she wanted, carried on in any fashion
she saw fit, and, of course, traveled the world.
But now Nashville,
Tennessee called her back home. Perhaps she could share her talent with the
world in some other way.
John led her to his
truck in the adjoining parking lot. She was comfortable with John, she thought,
as she walked behind him. They had been each other’s dates to both of Carlos’s
weddings last year, and they had hit it off, as friends of course. They might
have hit it off more, but he was very conscious of their age difference, even
though she wasn’t worried about the thirteen years between them. His ex-wife
had burned him badly ten years ago, and it was clear he didn’t trust any woman.
Not that she’d been
looking for a man, but she often thought if John hadn’t been so worried about
everything, they might have had something. As it was, they could keep each
other’s company comfortably. Coming home with all her brothers and her sister being
married, that might just be what she needed—someone to keep her company.
John’s truck was
probably one of the most beat up pickup trucks she’d ever had the displeasure
of riding in, and she’d been born and raised in Tennessee—she knew bad pickup
trucks. But that was John’s character. If it still worked, there was no need to
replace it.
He backed out of the
parking lot and headed toward the highway. Also common with John, he didn’t
have much to say unless you started the conversation.
“So, how is the
construction business?” she asked.
“Zach keeps me busy.
That’s for sure.”
“I’ll bet. Do you
think he’ll take some time off after the baby is born?”
John laughed. “Sure
he will. He will work from his office at home.”
Arianna followed
suit and laughed too. That sounded like her brother-in-law.
She watched as John
merged lanes. His tanned skin showed the many years that he’d worked in the
elements. The deep lines around his eyes never made him look old, she thought,
only distinguished. Arianna liked her men distinguished. Age on a man had never
bothered her. Oh, if her parents knew about some of the men she’d dated in New
York, they certainly might have had an opinion on the matter.
She must be feeling
the pang of needing someone to connect with, she decided, because the thought
of running her fingers through John’s salt and pepper shaded hair was almost
irresistible. But she denied herself the pleasure. He probably wouldn’t take
too kindly to the lunatic sister-in-law of his boss making a move on him.
The long flight and
drive out to the hospital must have worn her out more than she’d thought. She
woke to John’s hand on her arm.
“We’re here. If you
hurry, you might not miss the show.”
She rubbed her eyes.
“Aren’t you coming in?”
“Not my place to be.
But I’ll drop your bags off for you. I assume you’re staying at your place?”
She nodded. One of
the perks of keeping your house when you moved away, especially if you knew
you’d be back. “Yes. Of course.”
“That was a sound
business decision to keep the house and rent it out. Benson, Benson, and Hart
keep good care of it.”
“I wouldn’t expect
anything different. I know I have a renter in the basement, too. Hope they
don’t make too much noise. I’m a day sleeper.”
John smiled. “Oh,
he’s a good guy. He won’t bother you.”
Arianna nodded and
looked up at the hospital where her brother worked as an emergency room doctor.
“Guess I’d better go meet the newest members of this crazy family.” She slid
across the seat and placed a kiss on John’s unshaven cheek. “Thanks for the
ride. I’ll take you out for pizza and a beer.”
“Never could turn
down a woman who offered up pizza and beer.”
She opened the door
and climbed out. He was just her kind of man.
The waiting room was
full of Kellers, including Carlos and Madeline, who held a sleeping Tyler.
Carlos stood and
greeted her with a hug when she walked into the room. “I thought you were
babysitting him so he didn’t have to hang out here.”
“C’mon, what’s better
than meeting your baby brother or sister in the middle of the night and knowing
this is the kid you get to beat on for the rest of your life?”
Arianna laughed as
Clara rushed over and hugged her. “Auntie, I have a new song for you. I wrote
it myself.”
“And I bet it’s the
best song ever.”
Arianna pulled her
niece to her side. This was just what she’d needed—her family.
John opened the door
to Arianna’s house. He supposed he’d have to relinquish his key now that she
was home. He shut the door and carried her bags to the bedroom at the top of
the stairs. He didn’t open the door. He knew it was empty, but still, it was
her bedroom.
The house was dark
and quiet; he’d miss that too. There hadn’t been a renter upstairs for months;
he’d had the house to himself. Oh, he kept to himself downstairs in the little
apartment in the basement, but he’d enjoyed using the front door access and the
kitchen from time to time. There was a grill on the back porch, which offered
the perfect view of the sunset. He was sure Arianna wouldn’t mind him cooking a
steak or two for her, just for access to the porch.
John grabbed a beer
from the refrigerator as he passed through the kitchen. He figured he’d better
get his plugged in downstairs. It had been a saver on electricity since the one
he had in his kitchen was old, and Arianna’s kept the beer colder.
He started down the
stairs to his little apartment. The door locked from her side, which kept the
renters out of the house. He’d taken liberty with that since the house was
empty, but certainly he wouldn’t disrespect that rule when she came back home.
His small apartment
was just the right size. He was a simple man who didn’t need much—and who
didn’t have much since his ex-wife took everything he’d ever had. Ten years
after she’d left him for another man, he still wondered what he’d ever seen in
her. Well, he’d never make that mistake again. Women just weren’t worth it.
Most women, he corrected himself. His mind had been preoccupied with one woman
in particular for months. And now he faced the dilemma of knowing she’d be
living only feet from him.
The last thing he
wanted was a relationship—platonic or just sexual. Relationships had never
brought him anything but grief.
John sat down on his
Lazy Boy recliner and turned on his big screen, flat panel TV. A man had to
have his luxuries. He pulled from his imported beer and thought life was good.
But only a moment
later, his mind wandered to Arianna. With her hair piled atop her head, her
eyes dark from lack of sleep, and her ripped jeans, she’d still stirred him up
more than he’d have liked.
Beer and pizza
sounded like a great idea, but he wouldn’t take her up on the offer until he
knew they’d cemented their relationship as landlord/renter and friends—only
friends.

HOT OFF THE PRESS - Birthright Bestowed by Erika M. Szabo
Today's featured author is the beautiful and charming Erika Szabo, whose intriguing novel, Birthright Bestowed, introduces Ilona the Hun, a medical doctor who is a descendant of the ancient tribe of Huns. Life becomes rapidly complicated when Ilona discovers that she somehow has inherited some of the miraculous powers of her Hun ancestors. Welcome Erika!
http://twitter.com/ErikaMSzabo
Erika M Szabo is a Hungarian born American; she lives in the
beautiful Catskill Mountains. She has a PhD in Alternative Medicine; she
published a few books in this subject. Erika loves the art of healing; however,
writing about dry medical facts doesn’t satisfy her thirst for storytelling.
The ancient history of the Huns always fascinated her, it is full of holes,
mysteries and speculations; there are only a few written facts about them
besides their legends. Erika used her fertile imagination to fill the
historical voids in the story of Ilona. She raises questions such as - What if
healing by touch could be possible? - What if we could find a soul mate no
matter the obstacles? - What if we could visit our ancestors on a whim? - What
if our destiny is not written in stone and we can create our future?

Ilona the Hun trilogy, book one
Ilona is an emergency room doctor, born into an ancient Hun
tribe which still exists hidden amongst us with its strict and fiercely
enforced rules. She doesn’t know much about her Hun heritage besides legends,
customs and rituals that she continues out of respect for her parents whose
sudden death ten years before devastated her. She plays her tune on her
birthday given to her by her grandmother.
Elza – Ilona’s housekeeper - explains, the purpose of the tune is to let
the elders know she had come to age. Her mother didn’t have a chance to explain
her inherited powers, but after her 29th birthday when she is
considered as an adult by Hun standards, she begins to remember the forgotten
instructions concealed as rhymes her mother was teaching her since she was a small
child. Ilona discovers she can heal with her bare hands; she can rearrange the
human body to its healthy state. This ability is exciting as well as
frightening. She is conflicted between having confidence in her intelligence
and inherited abilities while having no confidence as a woman. Her insecurity
created barriers which keep others out, and I also keep her caged in. She’s
been in love with her unsuspecting best friend Bela, when a dashing stranger
explodes into her life. The sudden magnetic feeling frightens her and
discovering evil in him doesn’t help either. A sinister dark man appears, Ilona
connects his presence with the series of mysterious deaths around her. Zoltan
saves her life by jeopardizing his, which prompts Ilona to start fitting the puzzle
pieces together and discovering the ancient tribal secrets that not only can
change her future but the future existence of the Huns as well.
Excerpt from Birthright
Bestowed:
I was holding Teddy deep in thoughts, absentmindedly stroking his
soft artificial fur. He was my favorite childhood toy, stuffed to perfect
softness. Suddenly I felt something piercing the side of my neck. The sharp
pain made me jump, and I let out a muted cry. I touched the skin over my
carotid artery and I felt warm wetness. A drop of blood glistened on my
fingertips when I looked at my hand. I almost dropped Teddy feeling alarmed
when I noticed that my fingers begun to glow as if a bright red light was
turned on from the inside. At the same time I felt something scurrying from the
side of my neck toward my chest. I reached up and swept my neck and chest
jumping up in disgust. Crap! It must have
been a bug or a spider. The damned thing bit me! I looked down on my chest
and kept sweeping my clothes frantically looking for the bug.
A sudden swirling sensation took me by surprise and I grabbed the
side of the ottoman to steady myself while everything began to fade around me.
I tried to find a focus point to decrease the sudden vertigo, and then brought
my eyes down to Teddy. I noticed with climbing alarm that his eyes took on a
strange red glow. His eyes seemed alive; they bore into my insides and the
intense glow kept me frozen. I’m hallucinating ran through my mind. I
tried to turn away, yet I couldn’t move a muscle. I couldn’t even blink. I was
scared, never having felt such primal fear before. I felt my heart racing and my
breath came in little puffs as I felt cold beads of sweat on my forehead. I
knew it was adrenaline flooding my body triggered by the sudden fright, but I was
afraid it might have been some poison from the bite as well.
The strange sensation and hallucination stopped as quickly as it
started. My hands felt and looked normal and I became rational in an instant
and sat there, feeling obtuse, wondering what had just happened. The whole
sensation lasted only for seconds, yet it frightened me a great deal not
knowing what caused it.
I came in here
hoping to find answers, and I found more questions. I didn’t find out anything! I thought
angrily.
The only insight I got was being scared out of my mind. I couldn’t sit there anymore. I felt
suffocated; I had to get out in the open. I left Teddy on the ottoman and
opened the door carefully, peering out. Something seemed to pull me back, a
vague feeling, as if I was missing something. I fingered the Turul bird
medallion absentmindedly, feeling its smoothness and warmth. I realized I had
searched everywhere but inside the ottoman. I grabbed the seat and tried to
pull it up. There was a soft metallic click and then the top opened abruptly.

The Reincarnation of Soul Awakening
We can all look back and savor
certain specific memories of significant events or turning points in our lives,
and I would like to share with you a recent event that was added to my list of
memorable memories.
My novel,
Soul Awakening, was originally published in October of 2011 by Book Locker. A
few weeks ago, I was offered a four-book contract by an interesting, newer,
up-and-coming publisher in Denver, Colorado, called 5 Prince Publishing. Their
offer was too good to pass up and I gladly accepted it.
Soul
Awakening, Book I of the Dacque Chronicles, will debut with 5 Prince Publishing
on October 11, 2012 in eBook format and October 25 in print. Soul Rescue, Book
II of the Dacque Chronicles, will debut on November 8, 2012 in eBook format and
November 21 in print. Soul Mind, Book III of the Dacque Chronicles, is
scheduled for a January 2013 release.
Soul
Awakening is a spiritual mystery/romance story involving the discovery of
reincarnation and the past lifetimes by a group of individuals. It is a work of
fiction, but was inspired by a series of actual events that were experienced by
the author or other individuals known to the author. It involves the apparently
accidental, though actually orchestrated by Divine Intervention, meeting of
three total strangers, and their ultimate discovery that they shared previous
lifetimes together. It includes episodes of spirit communication, messages from
God, past-life regression sessions, Guardian Angels, past-life recall in the
awake state, and Soul Attraction, which is the reincarnation of groups of souls
together, in more than one lifetime, in order to deal with uncompleted Karmic
connections from previous lifetimes together.
The actual
link to Soul Awakening, Book I of the Dacque Chronicles, has not yet been
created but will soon appear on the 5 Prince Publishing website at http://www.5princebooks.com/buy.htm.
Please stop by and see the
other fine novels that they have published recently.

A Heart Not Easily Broken - Hot Off The Press
Today's guest is the lovely M.J. Kane whose novel A Heart Not Easily Broken has just been released today. Welcome M.J.!!
A Heart Not Easily Broken
Ebony is a smart,
sexy, career-oriented black woman who wants nothing more than a summer fling
with a man who challenges her mind and body. What she doesn’t expect is a blond
haired, blue-eyed bass player—who won’t take “no” for an answer—to accept the
challenge.
When Ebony’s attempt
at a brief fling turns into more, despite negative reactions from friends and
family, she finds juggling love, family, and career are nothing compared to the
ultimate betrayal she endures. Now her dreams spiral into lies and secrets that
threaten her future and her best friend’s trust.
Excerpt from A Heart Not Easily Broken:
The song ended, and I opened my eyes to cheer with the rest
of the crowd. I was noticed all right. Various men in my immediate vicinity
threw out catcalls and whistles, which were flattering, but the drummer paid me
no attention. In fact, no one in the band seemed to notice me, except for one
man.
One of the guitar players watched me intently. Astonished, I
nearly stumbled in my heels. He was attractive but… he was white, not what I
was aiming for. My lips tilted in a small smile before I moved out of his line
of sight, placing myself in front of dancers who’d moved closer to the stage
blocking my view of the drummer.
The next song played, and again, I tried to get lost in the
music. My eyes closed, it was impossible to find my groove again without
feeling stalked. The hair on the back of my neck stood up, drawing my attention
down the length of the stage and to the guitar player, who once again, watched
me with a predatory gleam in his eye.
When the song ended, I worked my way back
to the bar.
Neither Yasmine nor Kaitlyn were there. They must have gone to the bathroom.
“What can I get you, miss?” the bartender asked,
interrupting my thoughts.
Music from the loud speakers blasted again, after the MC
announced the band was taking a brief intermission.
“Margarita, extra shot of tequila, please.” The bartender
nodded and went to fill my order.
“Did you get a load of the blond guitar player? He’s hot!”
My attention turned to a busty brunette who’d taken up
temporary residence in the empty seat next to me. I recognized her as being one
of the women who’d been dancing next to me. She adjusted her
boobs, primping
while talking to her friend.
“He doesn’t know it yet, but I’m going home with him
tonight,” she continued. Her friend giggled.
Good luck. She had
a better chance than I did of finding a man tonight.
“Here you go.” The bartender placed a napkin in front of me
with my drink.
“I’ve got this,” a deep voice said close to my ear, making
me jump. It was incredibly sexy despite the fact it scared me. It also sent a
warm tingle down my spine. Intrigued, I turned and found myself face-to-face
with the guitar player. The same one my barstool neighbor wanted to go home
with.
Any sort of coherent words failed me.

Bio for M.J. Kane:
M.J. Kane stumbled into writing. An avid
reader, this stay at home mom never lost the overactive imagination of an only
child. As an adult she made up stories, though never shared them, to keep
herself entertained. It wasn’t until surviving a traumatic medical incident in
2006 that she found a reason to let the characters inhabiting her imagination
free. Upon the suggestion of her
husband, she commandeered his laptop and allowed the characters to take life.
It was that, or look over her shoulder for men caring a purple strait jacket.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
No longer a television addict, if M.J. isn’t
reading a book by one of her favorite authors, she’s battling with her creative
muse to balance writing and being a wife and mother. She resides in the suburbs
of Atlanta, Georgia with her high school sweetheart, four wonderful children,
and two pit bulls. MJ can often be found hanging out at the local library where
she is director of a local writer’s group, or online connecting with readers and
other authors. Other activities she enjoys include: creating custom floral
arrangements, assisting her children in their creative pursuits of music and
art, and supporting her husband’s music production business, 3D Sounds.

The Unanticipated Inspiration Behind the Godling Chronicles
Today's guests are the unusual, father and son team of fantasy creators - Brian D. and Jonathan Anderson who will share the story behind The Godling Chronicles. Welcome Brian and Jon!
Jonathan Anderson was
born in March of 2003. His creative spirit became evident by the age of three
when he told his first original story. In 2010 he came up with the concept for
The Godling Chronicles that grew into an exciting collaboration between father
and son. Jonathan enjoys sports, chess, music, games, and of course, telling
stories.
HOW “THE GODLING
CHRONICLES” CAME TO BE
(BY BRIAN D. ANDERSON)
A couple of years ago, I
was working on a rather dark project. The fact of the matter is that most of my
writing was dark back then. I was at a crucial part of the story and had been
laboring over it for hours. Suddenly, Jonathan (my son) burst through the door,
home from school, excited; more excited than
usual. When I asked him why, he explained that he had come up with an idea for
a story, and was desperate to tell me about it. At first I was a bit irritated.
I was on a roll and didn't really want to stop what I was doing. But, not
wanting to be a “bad dad,” I smiled and listened.
If you
want to know what he told me, you need only read the prologue of Book One. I
wrote down action for action what he said. I naturally adjusted the language to
a more adult tone, and added the dialogue, but the sequences were all his. By
the time he finished, I had forgotten all about my dumb book and was
captivated. He went on to explain the main character (including his name) and
the general idea for the story. ALL THAT FROM THE MIND SEVEN YEAR OLD BOY!!!
Right
then, I knew that an idea like that could not be left to waste. I abandoned my
book and set to work. Admittedly, Jonathan lost interest soon after and moved
on to things more fun than watching his old man type. Still, from time to time
I would read it to him, and get his opinion. He loved watching it take shape,
and relished the idea that other people would one day read it.
When my
first publisher picked up what came to known as The Godling Chronicles, I was
elated. I had never been more proud of my son, and I must admit...myself. The
day the first copies arrived at our house and I looked in the back to see our
picture, it really hit me what had happened. For years I had written dark,
cerebral stories that only I and a few others might enjoy. Looking back I see
my old work as less of a story, and more of an academic exercise in self-indulgence.
And though I had always had a love of fantasy, I had never had been able to
write it effectively. That is, until now. It was as if my son had unlocked
something deep inside of me. Something I had always hoped was there, but had
resigned myself to believing it was not.
Now I
am free to write and create without the burden of doubt...and it is all thanks
to my inspiration...the light of my life...my son. I know that one day, he will
be something special. With a mind like his I see only success in his future.
I'm certain that one day the world will know the name Jonathan Anderson.

Brian
D. Anderson was born in 1971, and grew up in the small town of Spanish Fort, A.

THE
GODLING CHRONICLES (BOOK ONE): THE SWORD OF TRUTH
It
has been five hundred years since the Great War between Elf and Human ripped
the world apart, and the Dark Knight of Angrääl has stolen the Sword of Truth.
With it, he has trapped the Gods in heaven. If left unchallenged he will kill
the Gods and reshape the world into an unimaginable hell. The only hope for all
of creation is a boy named Gewey Stedding, the only being born from the union
of two Gods. Aided by Lee Starfinder, the son of Saraf, God of the Sea, and a
mortal woman, he must discover the true nature of his power. However, this will
not be easy. He is bound to the earth a mortal man, and in many ways is very
human. When Kaylia, a young elf woman, joins their party, Gewey discovers that
perils of the heart can be as treacherous as any sword. Gewey, Lee, Kaylia and
other friends they meet on their journey, must battle the Dark Knight, find a
