In
the Gospel of Luke, 7:37-38, a sinner washes the feet of Jesus with her tears
and wipes them with her hair. The identity of this sinner is not revealed. Many
Biblical scholars assume that this was Mary Magdalene, but we may have another
situation here of two incidents being amalgamated into one in the early
writings, similar to the two women accused of adultery, that Jesus rescued from
stoning.
